Response to Kendrick Lamar
One main goal as a music educator is to teach all kinds of music, but to also learn about all kinds of music.There is something that can be taught about every piece of music ever written, from the structure of the song itself, or the message the song is trying to send. I want my students to engage in conversations about music they like and want to share. They should not be sitting in a lecture about Beethovens 5th symphony. I want to share all my experiences with performances in Classical, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop, and more.
