Alexander Gray

Alexander Gray is a young conductor and educator currently residing in Evanston, Illinois. Mr. Gray was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, and previously taught in public schools as the 7–12 Director of Bands at Pawling Central School District. During his time at Pawling, Mr. Gray directed the Pawling High School Concert Band, Tiger Band, Studio Band, and Pit Orchestra, as well as the 7th and 8th Grade Bands and Jazz Band. His ensembles earned consistent superior ratings at local and state adjudications at both the middle school and high school levels.

In 2025, Mr. Gray was selected to participate in the Reynolds Conducting Institute at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and received third place in the American Prize for Wind Band Conducting (Scholastic Division). Outside of his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Gray specializes in woodwinds and visuals for multiple high school and collegiate marching band programs. He also regularly gives clinics and serves as a guest conductor for concert bands and jazz ensembles throughout the Hudson Valley.

Alexander Gray earned a B.M. in Music Education and Clarinet Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, with a concentration in Saxophone Jazz Studies. He is currently pursuing an M.M. in Wind Band Conducting at Northwestern University, where he studies under Dr. Robert Taylor.
